Last year Smith Construction was selected in 2012, by Sport England to be a partner on their framework for the Design and Construction of Artificial Outdoor Sports Surfaces. As part of the Framework, Smith Construction has completed various projects for Sport England under the 'Inspired Facilities Programme.' The projects include an athletics track refurbishment at Foxhollies Leisure Centre, 3 new tennis/netball courts and refurbishment of existing facilities at Witchford Village College, MUGA refurbishment for Bassingham Parish Council in Lincolnshire, tennis court refurbishment for Burton on the Wolds LTC and new cricket facilities for Hartsholme C.C. of Lincoln.
Smith Construction has also completed two further projects funded via the 'Inspired Facilities Programme'. These projects were three new porous macadam tennis courts for Ashbourne LTC and conversion of an old redgra track to a porous polymeric J track for Daventry Athletics Club at Stefan Hill Sport Ground.
Smith Construction, and turf manufacturers, Limonta Sport, a FIFA & IRB preferred producer, have combined their skills and expertise to form a joint venture company, Limonta Smith JV Ltd, to provide specialist design, construction and maintenance services for artificial pitches.
Limonta Smith has been selected to become part of a framework agreement to provide the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of artificial grass pitches. The framework was created to service the Rugby Football Union (RFU) Football Association (FA) and Football Foundation (FF) capital investment programme. Smith Construction will provide the design, and manage the installation and maintenance element of the projects, and Limonta Sport will design the football /rugby turf systems for the projects. Each surface is selected to offer performance backed warranties based on a given number of playing hours.
Limonta Smith has already completed numerous projects under this framework, with over 65,000m² of surface installed by the end of this year
