Smith Construction are pleased to have been awarded the contract for the new 3G pitch at Wainfleet Road, the brand new home for Skegness Town Football Club. The relocation is to make way for a new retail park at its current location and 200 new job prospects.
At the end of March, Smith Construction began works at Wainfleet Road, to construct a brand new 64m x 100m 3G artificial pitch. Due to unstable ground conditions, this project is due to be stabilised at the beginning of next week, using our pioneering method of lime and cement.
Designed with floodlights, this fantastic new facility will allow for 11-a-side, 9-a-side and 5-a-side football to be played, not only in all weathers, but all year round. The 3G pitch will also be constructed to the World Rugby Standards to allow full contact rugby. This new development will see Skegness Town Football Club gain National League Standard, and provide the local community with a fabulous new facility which will hopefully encourage more physical activity.
Martin Jackson, Chairman of Skegness Town, said ‘It’s very exciting for us to see the work start. It will be sad for the club to move from Burgh Road after being there since 1946 but we will have two new pitches, a stadium and a new community all-weather pitch’.
