Smith Construction has completed a design and build contract at Creasey Park Community Football Centre. The £2.5m project included the installation of a superb natural grass match pitch, training pitches, and a 3G Turf Pitch with on-going maintenance and grounds care. The project also included a club pavilion building with changing and meeting room facilities. The club is now open to the public – and is being enjoyed by many in the community and beyond.
The project attracted funding from The Football Foundation, after the collaborative work of Bedfordshire FA and Central Bedfordshire Council. The funding allowed the development at Creasey Park to provide a fabulous football centre with FIFA 1 star rated pitches and associated facilities for the club and community.
The club will now be working with Dunstable Town Council, who has been appointed to manage the facility. Dunstable Town Football Club and AFC Dunstable have played a number of fixtures on the lush Creasey Park Pitch, which has proved very popular from players and supporters alike.
The addition of the full-size 3G artificial turf pitch cements Creasey Park Community Football Club as an outstanding football development centre. The all-weather pitch provides the most up-to-date, artificial training facilities, which will ensure maximum use during all weather conditions; the pitch is already being used by many local schools, youth clubs and adult teams.
One supporter said “I have been watching football here at Creasey Park for too many years to remember and this new ground and development is just fantastic and just what Dunstable needs.”
