Smith Construction begin work on local school project

Smith Construction begin work on local school projectPublished 21 September 2012

Smith Construction (Heckington) Ltd began work last week to provide a local school with a state of art facility. Arthur Mellows Village College is of academy status and is located in Peterborough, which is local to Smith Construction offices, being only 27 miles away.

The project includes design and construction of a full size sand-dressed hockey pitch which will meet FIH specification, associated fencing and floodlighting to ensure the facility is safe and secure and to ensure maximum use throughout the year. The surface is Tiger turf Evo Pro, which is a top class hockey surface suitable for top level hockey; however the surface is suitable for a multitude of sports.

The fantastic new facility has been in planning for a number of years. There is little provision for hockey in the area and the school is hoping the new pitch will encourage external hockey clubs to come and use their facility as well as help develop hockey within the school.
