At the end of July, Smith Construction were delighted to be awarded another contract from Hampshire County Council Property Services. On this occasion Smith Construction were instructed to refurbish a sunken all-weather pitch at Whiteley School. The school required a quick turnaround, and for the pitch to be ready for the new school year. Therefore, Smith Construction completed the project in only five weeks.
Whiteley Primary School is situated on the edge of the Gull Coppice, with beautiful woodlands surrounding the school. Whiteley Primary School provides education for pupils aged from four to eleven and they utilise their all-weather pitch for PE lessons, including football and hockey clubs during lunch time and after school. At weekends the pitch is also used by the Whiteley Wanderers Football Club. The club have nearly three hundred players and are expanding.
Our expert team, after removing the original carpet, created a stable sub-base to relevel the sunken pitch. Smith Construction are an independent company and are able to install various manufacturer’s products. At Whiteley School, Smith Construction resurfaced the 48m x 80m MUGA with a FIFA approved product, suitable for football and hockey. The pitch was line marked to allow for nine-a-side football.
