Perivale Park Athletics Track has successfully undergone a Smith Construction revamp, which is now complete.
Leisure management company Everyone Active, awarded the 8-lane track restoration project to Smith Construction after a competitive tender process. Perivale Park’s polymeric track was cleaned, repaired, resurfaced and marked out as part of the upgrade works.
Following the work, the surface was successfully tested to IAAF Certification Standards by Independent Consultants, Labo Sport and is now being used for training and competitions.
To bring the Perivale Park athletics track, pole vault runway and field event facilities up to IAAF standard, Smith Construction deep cleaned the existing surface using their new Horger machine. Pressure water jets and soft brushes thoroughly wash the surface and debris is vacuumed from the track in preparation for the specialist polymeric repairs and coloured retexture spray finish.
The facility upgrade also included total refurbishment of the throws cages and the reconstruction of the throws circle surrounds and access pathways. Disabled athletes throws anchor points were installed.
Perivale Park’s Manager, Joe Paris says “Smith Construction have done a fantastic job here at the club. Now our track meets IAAF Performance Standards and our throws facilities have been restored, new members are joining in their hundreds”
