New development at the University of Liverpool

New development at the University of LiverpoolPublished 4 August 2016

The University of Liverpool secured planning for the £90m redevelopment of the Greenbank Campus.  This redevelopment includes the construction of new halls, a two storey sports hall and outdoor sports facilities.

Following a competitive tendering process, Smith Construction are delighted to have been awarded the contract to construct four multi-use games areas (MUGAs) by the University of Liverpool.

Smith Construction are due to start constructing the four MUGAs; two macadam courts and two synthetic pitches, this month.

Smith Construction will be installing a third generation (3G) surface to the synthetic pitches to allow a variety of sports to be played, however, predominately football. The synthetic pitches will be line marked for 5-aside football.

To maximise play, the two macadam courts will be line marked to allow basketball, netball and tennis to be played.  All MUGAs will be enclosed with twin bar fencing and will be floodlit to be utilised all year round.
