Eastleigh Borough Council are investing £22 million in a major refurbishment scheme at their Fleming Park Leisure Centre. Amongst the amazing new facilities planned, the existing artificial grass hockey pitch and 5-a-side pitches have undergone a complete refurbishment.
Smith Construction have replaced the sand-filled multi-use games area and artificial grass 5-a-side pitches with the very latest 3G football surface.
The works were undertaken during the summer whilst the Leisure Centre remained operational and the new pitches were handed over on time at the beginning of September.
Chelsea Football Club’s youngsters and The young Saints are amongst teams who are enjoying their training sessions on the new Limonta Max S and Infinity 3G turf pitches.
As part of the pitch refurbishments the floodlights have been replaced with LED light fittings; these will provide an extremely low maintenance, energy saving solution for years to come. The LED lights are designed to last 25 times longer than the originals, before needing replacement.
Smith Construction have worked closely with Eastleigh Borough Council to ensure they are delighted with their new artificial grass surface and that the project was managed to meet the programme and requirements of the Leisure Centre.
Contracts Manager, Jason Phipps, said “We always enjoy working for Eastleigh BC team and having designed and constructed the original pitches here in 2004, it has been a pleasure to return for the resurface project.”Smith Construction (Heckington) Ltd, and turf manufactures, Limonta Sport, a FIFA preferred producer, have combined their skills and expertise a form a joint venture company, Limonta Smith JV Ltd for inclusion of the Football Foundation (FF), Football Association (FA), Rugby Football Union (RFU) England Hockey and Sport England national framework for the design and construction of artificial grass pitches (AGPs).
