Smith Construction (Heckington) Ltd, and turf manufactures, Limonta Sport, a FIFA preferred producer, have combined their skills and expertise to form a joint venture company, Limonta Smith JV Ltd for Football Foundation/FA/RFU Framework projects.
Limonta Smith JV Ltd have completed a £460,000 project for FC United of Manchester as part of the Football Foundation/FA/RFU Framework for 3G AGPs, this was made possible from funding which was provided by the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund (£500,000) and Football Stadia Improvement Fund (£150,000). Additional funding was provided by Sport England, Manchester City Council and FC United club members also raised £2million from a pioneering community share scheme towards the construction of their new stadium.
FC United of Manchester now have their own football ground and community facility named Broadhurst Park, Limonta Smith JV Ltd has provided the facility with a full size 3G community football pitch which has been tested to FIFA 1* standard and World Rugby Regulation 22. The community pitch has associated floodlighting and acoustic fencing to help retain noise within the pitch.
The community football club was founded in 2005 and is owned and democratically run by its 3,700+ members. The £5.7 million development will be a 5,000 capacity complex with a main pitch, two 3G pitches and also two grass pitches for local side Moston Juniors.
