Limonta Smith JV completes project at Dyson Perrins Church of England Academy

Limonta Smith JV completes project at Dyson Perrins Church of England AcademyPublished 13 August 2013
Limonta Smith JV has recently completed a unique project at Dyson Perrins Church of England Academy, Worcestershire.

Smith Construction (Heckington) Ltd, and turf manufacturers, Limonta Sport, a FIFA preferred producer, have combined their skills and expertise to form a joint venture company, Limonta Smith JV, for FA and RFU framework projects.

The company has been selected by the FA, RFU and Football Foundation, to provide specialist design, build and maintenance services for artificial pitches within a new national framework of contractors. The four-year framework aims to vastly improve the quality of artificial pitches constructed throughout the UK.

The project at Dyson Perrins was unique, in that the brief was to design and build a full size football pitch to comply with both football and rugby regulations. The pitch was to be built to comply with FIFA 1* football regulations as well as IRB 22 regulations, to allow full contact rugby.

Limonta Smith JV designed a specialist in-filling and carpet system to ensure the pitch would meet the regulations for full contact rugby, as well as FIFA football standards. The project also included complex drainage work, challenging base conditions, fencing and floodlighting.

‘The academy is delighted with the outstanding new facility which will give us a fantastic opportunity of not only continuing to establish Dyson Perrins as a first class centre for educational sporting achievement, but also enhancing our commitment to being at the heart of our community.’ David Griffin, Headteacher
