Smith Construction has been at the forefront of the sports pitch construction industry for many years, and have constructed several hockey pitches from various clients, such as independent schools, hockey clubs, universities to name a few.
Smith Construction have become a Certified Field Builder by The International Hockey Federation (FIH). The Certified Field Builder accreditation is defined as a company which specialises in building hockey fields and provides a full service to their clients. We have proven we have the ability to construct hockey pitches to the high standards required, have appropriate in-house civil engineering expertise, have an adequate quality management system in place to ensure the consistency of our work and provide accurate and comprehensive maintenance advice for our customers.

This certification from hockey’s governing body, FIH, places Smith Construction in a unique and elite category. The FIH Field Builder scheme is an important part of the FIH Quality Programme which is designed to ensure the sustainability, affordability and accessibility of hockey turf worldwide. The scheme recognises that new artificial hockey pitches are a major investment, which involves commitment and dedication. It aims to help ensure all hockey pitches are constructed to a high quality for all levels of play from elite competition through to community development.
